70% Faster Appraisals: Earning Appraiser Trust One Assignment at a Time

Over the past few weeks, the apprAIz team has been in the trenches with appraisers, supporting them through live appraisal assignments. Every order is unique, every property brings its own nuances, and every appraiser teaches us something new — a recent assignment left us with four key takeaways.
Four takeaways from a live assignment
Platform accessibility matters: the appraiser on this assignment was using an Android device, and since the mobile app is currently iOS-only, it added extra steps to their workflow — expanding Android support remains a top roadmap priority. Trust is earned, not assumed: even though apprAIz surfaced the exact comparable sales the appraiser ultimately chose, they preferred starting with their own MLS search, which makes total sense — technology should support and validate an appraiser's expertise rather than replace it, and that confidence takes time to build.
Real-world use drives better software: a couple of data-import glitches surfaced during the assignment and were resolved on the fly, and the appraiser's own workflow suggestions — small friction points where every click counts — are already rolling out. And industry standards still need clarity: the subject property had a garage while some comps didn't, raising a UAD 3.6 reporting nuance, so we reached out to the GSEs directly for clarification rather than guessing.
The big takeaway
Building appraisal software isn't just about writing code — it's about walking alongside appraisers through real assignments, listening closely, and iterating fast. The goal is to reduce appraisal turn times by 70% without compromising quality or professional judgment, and every piece of feedback from a live order brings that closer.
